About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Assistant General Counsel - Executive Director, Bank Regulatory to be part of the team of attorneys and legal professionals that serve as trusted legal advisors on bank regulatory matters impacting a large, complex and highly regulated financial institution. This role provides strategic guidance on prudential regulation, partnering closely with legal, business, risk, compliance, public affairs, and government relations teams.

In this role, you will:
  • Advise and influence peers, partners, and internal stakeholders (including leadership) by developing objectives, plans, resources, and long-term goals for highly complex business strategies and needs
  • Handle matters that have a significant impact on the Company's operations, strategies, or profitability
  • Provide legal advice on matters for management of the Company and its subsidiaries
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to businesses and corporate functions on bank regulatory matters
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex, enterprise-wide challenges, delivering long-term solutions that require creativity, advanced analytical thinking, and coordination across multiple areas while providing guidance to others
  • Represent the Company in highly complex regulatory and industry matters, including engagement with regulators and external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Provide counsel on prudential regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations, including assessing impact of regulatory developments on strategy, products, and operations
  • Support regulatory policy and rulemaking efforts, including drafting and advising on comment letters, interpretive positions, and internal governance documentation
  • Develop and lead implementation of strategic business initiatives, and lead work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Educate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys within the Legal department
  • Collaborate with all levels of professionals across legal, business, risk, compliance, public affairs, and government relations to drive outcomes

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Desired Qualifications:
  • Expertise and significant experience with the prudential banking laws and regulations relevant to the Finance organization of a global banking organization, including the Bank Holding Company Act, National Bank Act, Federal Deposit Insurance Act and Dodd-Frank Act as well as the implementing regulations of OCC, Federal Reserve and FDIC
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. regulatory capital and liquidity regulations of the OCC and Federal Reserve, including the frameworks applicable to global systemically important banking organizations
  • Familiarity with the prudential banking laws and regulations relevant to the commercial lending, capital markets and related financial activities of global banking organizations
  • Understanding of the administrative procedure/rulemaking processes of the U.S. banking agencies

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
