Job Summary:
The Queens County District Attorney's Office (QDA) has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney (3+ years) to serve as an Assistant District Attorney in its Crime Strategies & Intelligence Bureau (CSIB). CSIB proactively gathers and analyzes crime data and intelligence to drive the Office's strategies on crime reduction and public safety. Members of CSIB work closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, bureaus within QDA, and other stakeholders within the community, to identify and proactively investigate emerging public safety threats that impact our communities including violent crime, theft, fraud, and quality of life offenses. Assistant District Attorneys in CSIB work closely with the CSIB Intelligence Analysts to provide pre-arrest and post-arrest investigative and analytical support including drafting and editing reports regarding the analysis of cell phone data, social media intelligence, financial data, and other complex digital forensic evidence. CSIB Assistant District Attorneys also develop, investigate, and prosecute long-term complex criminal investigations into violent crime and other complex criminal enterprises. This position requires a critical thinker with a strong combination of data, organizational and communication skills, as well as some technological savvy.

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
  • Forging and maintaining strong working relationships with law enforcement agencies and community partners. Communicating across multiple levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Assist in developing, motivating, and leading the intelligence analysis team including daily supervision of crime/intelligence analysts, focusing of resources, and evaluation of team members.
  • Supervise intelligence analysts in performing research, compiling, and analyzing complex information/data regarding geographical information system (GIS) management; gathering relevant data, information and/or documentation from a variety of sources; performing high level and highly complex Intelligence Analysis Program development and design.
  • Perform and supervises difficult, complex, and sensitive projects and negotiations; make recommendations for the use of best practices and innovation in prosecutorial analytical techniques.
  • Draft subpoenas, search warrants, pen registers, trap-and-trace orders and applications, and respond to request during non-business hours.
  • Coordinate, analyze, evaluate, and interpret intelligence and crime data in preparing routine and special reports for the benefit of legal, investigative, and support personnel.
  • Coordinate with QDA bureaus in offering litigation support services.

Qualifications
:
Interested applications must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State Bar in good standing and have at least 3 years post-J.D. experience. Applicants must also have:
  • Experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution.
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, the New York State Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to build relationships with community residents and organizations, police, and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Experience in standard operating systems and software (Windows, Microsoft office, excel, word and PowerPoint) highly preferred.
