About the role:
As an Assistant Corporate Counsel at A Largest Privately Held Freight Brokerage Firm, you will proactively mitigate legal risk and manage a variety of legal matters, with a focus on employment, transportation, compliance, contracts and litigation. You'll work closely with management and business units to see legal issues through to completion. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will help shape A Largest Privately Held Freight Brokerage Firm continued success.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Advise management on general and specialized legal matters, including litigation, transportation law, employment law, contracts, compliance and governance
  • Provide analysis and guidance on litigation strategy, working with internal and external counsel
  • Oversee and coordinate litigation matters, including discovery
  • Manage employment and cargo claims, collaborating with third-party administrators
  • Advise on insurance coverage and risk management for claims
  • Support employment, compliance, collections and claims issues
  • Collaborate with departments to evaluate issues and provide legal advice
  • Develop innovative solutions to mitigate legal risk and support TQL objectives
  • Distill complex legal principles into clear, actionable guidance
  • Develop, audit, and maintain corporate policies and procedures for compliance
  • Take on additional legal duties as new opportunities arise

What You'll Need:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to a state bar association
  • At least 2+ years of legal experience in a major law firm or corporate law environment
  • Experience managing various types of litigation
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry a plus
  • Excellent business acumen and judgment
  • Ability to understand business needs and contextualize legal risk
  • Strong research, communication and project management skills
  • Proven relationship-building skills with leadership and counsel
  • Influencing and persuasive skills
  • Ability to handle difficult situations effectively
  • Proactive self-starter, able to work independently and as a team player
