Job Description and Duties:Are you interested in using your legal, management, and leadership skills to support management of the State's fish and wildlife, and the habitats on which they depend? As a senior member of CDFW's dynamic legal office, this Assistant Chief Counsel (ACC) position will supervise a team of OGC's attorneys and a legal analyst. The practice areas include employment law, public contracting law, real estate, tort law, natural resources law, and tribal law, among others.
In addition to supervising the team, the ACC provides counsel to the Department's senior executives, including its Chief Deputy Director and Director, as well as the Natural Resources Agency and Governor's Office when appropriate. The ACC is also an essential member of the legal office's management team, helping plan and manage the office's budget and long term strategic planning.

Working Conditions:
Maintain normal and consistent work hours, averaging 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work both remotely and in office as consistent with the applicable department policies. Work in excess of 40 hours per week is expected, when necessary, to complete assignments in a timely manner. Position may require the Incumbent to sit for long periods of time. Light lifting or reaching may be required, though reasonable accommodation may be provided upon request.
This position will be located in Sacramento. Occasional travel may be required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stays.
Special Requirements:
The Position(s) Require(s) A(n) Ca State Bar License. You Will Be Required to Provide a Copy of Your License Prior to Being Hired.
This Position Requires Active Membership in The California State Bar.
