Job Duties:
This attorney will provide advice and representation primarily to the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and its Offices of Licensing, Developmental Disabilities, and Contracts and Procurement. This attorney will also assist with representation of the Virginia Department of Health on hospital and nursing home licensing matters as needed. This attorney will interpret state and federal law and represent the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services in state and federal court, including cases alleging violation of federal or state laws with respect to conditions of confinement. In addition, this attorney will assist with representation of the Commonwealth in a federal institutional reform case transforming the system of services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be a member of the Virginia Bar, possess excellent analytical, research, and writing ability, and demonstrate superior oral and written communication and litigation skills.

Additional Considerations:
At least two years of litigation experience, knowledge of Virginia's administrative process, and contract and procurement experience is preferred.
