Description:

Jenner & Block LLP (www.jenner.com) is seeking a junior, mid-level, or senior associate, with 1-6 years of experience, to join the firm's busy and growing litigation practice. We're looking specifically for attorneys who will integrate AI into the core of their practice, with innovation and integration as driving forces. This does not mean pretending to use AI to check a box. We really mean it. Attorneys should be: (1) already experienced with the use of AI; (2) adept at using AI in all aspects of legal practice; and (3) committed to shaping how AI will transform and advance the practice of law.

The role works directly with Adam Unikowsky, a recognized leader at the intersection of AI and the law, alongside other firm partners driving an initiative to explore what the future practice of law looks like, starting now. We will encourage and reward creativity and give you flexibility to use AI tools throughout your work. If you are the kind of person who enjoys vibe coding and checking benchmarks for every new model release, this is the job for you.

The successful candidate can expect to work on a wide variety of fast-moving and complex matters. We anticipate and expect that you will use AI extensively and creatively in accomplishing these tasks. Your success will depend on your ability to deploy AI effectively and develop innovative applications for the integration of AI in your work. Duties include but are not necessarily confined to: preparing for and attending depositions; drafting pleadings and motion briefings; handling case management responsibilities (assign and supervise others' work; plan for and host team meetings/trainings; work on case budget and staffing); meeting and conferring with opposing counsel; working with experts on expert reports; drafting discovery requests and responses; attending court hearings and conducting oral arguments; conducting legal research; performing document review; maintaining an active pro bono practice; and designing document review plan and managing document review and training.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree plus 1-6 years of experience as litigation attorney.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on proficiency with AI tools, including active, daily use – including the use of large language models (e.g., Claude, GPT-4, Gemini), AI-assisted legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw AI, Lexis+ AI, Harvey, Casetext), and document review tools.
  • Technical curiosity and AI literacy — follows model releases, benchmarks, and AI developments closely; able to critically assess the capabilities and limitations of new tools and identify opportunities to deploy them in legal practice.
  • Demonstrated judgment in AI use — understands when AI output requires verification, can identify errors or confabulations, and applies appropriate lawyer oversight to AI-generated work product.
  • Philosophical commitment to AI as a transformative force in legal practice — not just as a productivity tool, but as a fundamental reshaping of how legal work is done.
  • Detail-oriented, independent self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong academic credentials are required.
  • Strong commitment to pro bono representation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment is essential.
  • Membership in the bar of the home office jurisdiction is required.

Please submit a cover letter, resume and (unofficial) law school transcript for consideration. Your cover letter should specifically explain why you are interested in practicing law using AI and address your experience using AI and ideas for how to deploy AI effectively.

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be $225,000 – $390,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant), and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
