Description:

At Robins Kaplan LLP, we believe that our different backgrounds and perspectives make us stronger and enrich our practice of law on a national platform. That is why we are excited for this opportunity to partner with our long-standing client, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, to develop a robust pipeline of attorneys with insurance law experience.

This innovative program affords an opportunity for a 1L or 2L student to participate in a hybrid experience, blending Robin Kaplan's Summer Associate Program with the Liberty Legal James Kelleher Fellowship Program. Working as a Summer Associate with Robins Kaplan's Insurance Practice and as a Fellow in Liberty Mutual's in-house legal department, the law student will have the opportunity for mentorship and exposure to important areas of insurance law, while building expertise through hands-on experience. Successful associates may be invited to continue to clerk with Robins Kaplan through the academic year, return for subsequent summers, or be considered for full-time employment, subject to the firm's needs.

The Details Are As Follows:
  • This is an approximate 12-week paid program. The Summer Associate will receive a weekly gross salary of $4,038.00 (payable bi-weekly, less all applicable withholdings).
  • The schedule for the Legal Fellow rotation with the legal department of Liberty Mutual has not yet been determined; however, it will be based on the following timeline:
  • Kelleher Fellows will experience and build summer associate expertise in May/June.
  • Fellows will then do a 4-6 week rotation in either Liberty's Coverage unit and/or Reinsurance unit through June/July.
  • Kelleher Fellows will wrap up their program back at Robins Kaplan in July/August.
