An Educational Consultant, a workforce development company, is looking for a Workers' Compensation Attorney to join one of our employer partners. Candidates will be screened by the MentorWorks team. If selected, the candidate will move on in the process to our employment partner.

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a motivated and skilled attorney to join their team as a General Liability and/or Workers' Compensation Attorney. In this role, you will handle cases in both workers' compensation and general liability practices, assisting clients in achieving efficient and favorable resolutions. We welcome candidates with experience in either or both areas of law, and trial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare case evaluations, conduct legal research, and analyze case facts to provide sound legal advice.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, including complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, site inspections, and other legal proceedings as required.
  • Effectively present case facts in writing and verbally to clients, opposing counsel, and other parties.
  • Correspond with all relevant parties, including opposing counsel, clients, and insurance companies.
  • Develop comprehensive case strategies in collaboration with partners and other attorneys.
  • Draft briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents to support case arguments.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and insurance companies.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned to support the effective functioning of the practice.

Experience and Education:
  • Admission to practice in the state of Indiana or Wisconsin is required. Admission to the Illinois Bar is a plus.
  • Background in civil law, workers' compensation, and general liability.
  • Trial experience is a plus, demonstrating the ability to effectively advocate for clients in court.
  • Intrinsic motivation, self-starting attitude, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent research, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, plan, prioritize, and coordinate work responsibilities effectively.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proven ability to meet monthly billable requirements.
  • Experience overseeing the work of paralegals and legal assistants is advantageous.
