Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of workers' compensation matters, including state claims, Defense Base Act (DBA) cases, and Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) claims.
- Represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in administrative hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Conduct depositions of claimants, medical experts, and fact witnesses.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
- Analyze medical records and employment documentation to assess claims and develop defense strategies.
- Provide strategic legal counsel on compliance with applicable workers' compensation laws and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments affecting workers' compensation and insurance defense across relevant jurisdiction
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Louisiana State Bar and in good standing.
- 5–10 years of experience in workers' compensation and insurance defense litigation, including DBA and/or Longshore cases.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
