Brief Description of Duties:
The School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Professor position in Business Law. This is a non-renewable, fixed-term appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach various business law and management courses. We are seeking an individual who demonstrates strong potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly engagement, and service. The ideal candidate will be committed to advancing SBPA's mission and contributing to the growth of a high-quality business program by building on existing strengths and fostering collaboration across the school. Candidates must show a strong dedication to student success and possess the ability to support learners from diverse backgrounds. A demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary teaching and research is highly valued

Minimum Job Requirements:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school • At least one year of teaching experience at the postsecondary level • Active and valid license to practice law • Additional qualifications to teach in a related discipline (e.g., management, ethics, public administration) are highly desirable • Demonstrated professional ethics, including a commitment to collaboration, creativity, motivation, and consensus-building in a dynamic, results-driven academic environment • Demonstrated ability to teach Business Law classes. • Strong commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary education and research • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, initiatives, and the ability to work in a multicultural student-centered environment.

A candidate for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor shall be required to meet the following qualifications:
  • An appropriate terminal degree or agree to complete this degree within a period of time to be specified in the terms of the initial contract; and
  • At least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience, including two (2) years in an institution of higher education.
  • Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent.

When formal teaching experience is limited or absent, the candidate shall be required to demonstrate verifiable potential for effective teaching.

A candidate for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor shall be required to meet the following

Qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate or the highest appropriate credential in the field of specialization, or experience and achievements comparable to the doctorate;
  • A record of scholarship and professional growth; and
  • At least five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in an institution of higher education, including three (3) years as an Assistant Professor.
  • Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent.
