Description:Amherst College's Department of Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought invites applications for a full-time three-year visiting appointment at the rank of assistant professor for the 2027–2030 academic years (beginning July 1, 2027, and ending June 30, 2030). Teaching responsibilities include two courses per semester and supervision of senior honors projects. We welcome applications from persons trained in the humanities, social sciences, and/or law. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching is in one or more of the following areas: global legality; post-colonial legality; law and science; law and critical race theory; law and religion; legal theory, with particular attention to the rule of law and liberal constitutionalism; feminist legal theory; legal history; legal anthropology; and law and culture. The position requires a Ph.D and/or a J.D.
The expected salary range for this job opportunity is $70,000 to 100,000. The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations.
