Job Summary:
The Vice President & General Counsel (Oshkosh Vocational) serves as the chief legal advisor and strategic business partner to the Vocational Segment leadership team. This executive role is responsible for leading the legal function within the segment, overseeing all legal, transactional, compliance, and risk matters. As a direct report to the Chief Legal Officer and peer to other segment General Counsels, this role plays a key part in aligning legal strategy with enterprise goals, protecting the company's interests, and enabling business growth across a global footprint.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the Vocational Segment president and senior leadership team, providing counsel on strategic initiatives, commercial operations, regulatory issues, and risk mitigation.
- Lead and develop the segment's legal team, including attorneys and support staff, ensuring legal services are business-focused, responsive, and scalable.
- Oversee all legal aspects of M&A activity, joint ventures, complex commercial agreements, global distribution and supply chain contracts, governance, and international legal matters.
- Collaborate closely with the Corporate Legal Team, including peers across other segments and corporate functions, to drive consistency, best practices, and alignment on enterprise legal strategy.
- Manage segment-level legal operations, including outside counsel, legal budget, training, contract lifecycle management, and implementation of compliance processes.
- Serve as the legal escalation point for high-impact matters, providing clear, practical guidance to segment leadership and the enterprise legal function.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across jurisdictions, partnering with internal audit, compliance, and enterprise risk management teams.
- Actively contribute to enterprise legal leadership initiatives and strategy in partnership with the CLO and peer GCs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Fifteen (15) or more years of relevant legal experience, including significant exposure to corporate and commercial law, with at least five (5) years in a senior legal leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience supporting global, matrixed businesses and partnering directly with executive-level leadership.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of legal issues related to manufacturing, industrial services, or highly regulated sectors.
- Proven ability to manage high-stakes transactions and international legal matters.
- Skilled in translating legal complexity into strategic, actionable business advice.
- Strong leadership presence and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Experience managing and developing legal teams within a segment or divisional structure.
Pay Range:
$181,200.00 - $340,800.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
