Job Duties
- Lead business and legal affairs for various Telemundo departments and divisions, including but not limited to the Hispanic Streaming Group, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Operations & Technology, Revenue Strategy & Distribution, Digital Operations, and HR departments.
- Serve as a strategic business partner to department executives to identify and resolve business and legal issues (including issues relating to contract interpretation).
- Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret an extensive range of agreements, including but not limited to vendor, software as a service agreement, executive producer, partnership/sponsorship, venue, development, rights acquisition, production, license, content distribution, and above-the-line talent (e.g., writers, producers, directors, and cast) agreements and provide timely and thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues.
- Provide counsel on various business deal structures and related documentation.
- Manage the day-to-day business and legal affairs/production legal issues in connection with the production of Telemundo’s live specials, including live music award shows, as well as Hispanic Streaming Group’s scripted and unscripted productions.
- Review and/or provide rights analyses and clearances for productions.
- Manage, train and mentor a team of business and legal affairs attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff.
- Provide advice and legal support as a business and legal generalist.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of combined television business affairs and legal affairs experience at a media company and/or law firm with substantial entertainment and media practice.
- Extensive knowledge of entertainment transactions.
- J.D. from accredited US law school, demonstrated academic achievement and current bar membership in good standing.
- Spanish verbal and written skills a plus.
- Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols in select work settings or where jurisdictionally mandated.
