About the role:
  • Redwire Space, Inc. is seeking a Vice President, Associate General Counsel to play a key role in guiding Redwire through its next phase of growth. This role will provide expert support on areas of employment law in support of transactions and litigation matters at the business unit and corporate level. The role will also provide generalist support on a wide variety of other subjects, including corporate policies, transactions, and governance matters. Offering sound judgment, strategic counsel, and practical solutions in a fast‑moving environment.
  • The ideal candidate is a proactive, business‑minded attorney who can navigate complexity, manage competing priorities, and build strong relationships across the organization. Collaboration, clarity, and adaptability will be essential to your success.
  • This role reports directly to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary. It is primarily remote, with preference for candidates within commuting distance of our San Luis Obispo or Goleta, California offices.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with and advise global business units and cross-functional teams on a wide range of employment and corporate legal projects.
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of employment law matters to support the company's operations.
  • Track developments on relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate potential legal risks.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, HR, and business teams, to understand their needs and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including employment contracts, policies, and procedures, as well as other corporate policies and transactional documents.
  • Manage and resolve employment-related disputes and investigations, including performance management, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour claims.
  • Manage external legal counsel when necessary to ensure timely and effective legal support.
  • Train and educate employees and managers on employment law matters to promote a compliant and inclusive work environment.
  • Lead and/or participate in special projects as required by the General Counsel, such as policy reviews or implementation of new regulations
  • Manage litigation and similar matters related to employment issues, such as government investigations, and other litigation affecting the company.
  • Build strong relationships with business partners to ensure appropriate levels of support and collaboration; this position will have significant visibility within Redwire and opportunities for increased responsibility as our team and company grow.

Ideal Experience:
  • Degree from an ABA-approved law school, and an active member in good standing of a state bar.
  • 16+ years of experience in law firm, in-house legal, and/or human resources environments.
  • Combination of both in-house and law firm practice is preferred.
  • Expertise in employment law issues, particularly California, relating to discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour rules.
  • Experience partnering with all levels and cross-functional partners, from executives and board members to engineers and technicians.
  • Ability to Travel as needed
