Your role on the team: (job description)
  • Provide counsel on employment laws Company-wide (including subsidiaries), including, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, OFCCP, WARN Act, NLRA, and ERISA, and issues such as benefits, immigration, labor unions, severance, releases, non-competition agreements, background checks, drug testing, etc.
  • Assess and respond to EEOC, state, and local agency employment-related charges.
  • Draft pleadings, responses, correspondence, and settlement agreements in employment and commercial litigation
  • Assess and quantify risk for employment and commercial litigation.
  • Direct outside counsel and manage employment litigation, commercial litigation, and labor arbitrations.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies and processes for employment and commercial litigation, and other legal matters.
  • Resolve or prosecute litigation efficiently and effectively, in alignment with executive leaders and company strategy.
  • Advises executives within the Company and works alongside employees in all business units.
  • Examine current Company employment and labor practices and keep abreast of changes in law and trends.
  • Develop and deliver labor, employment, risk mitigation, and privacy training and updates.
  • Identify and implement policy and process improvements.
  • KPI tracking and reporting relating to litigation spend and outcomes.
  • Review and approve outside counsel invoices for efficiency and compliance with company guidelines.
  • Advise and handle traditional labor matters, including labor arbitrations, NLRB litigation, and legal advice relating to labor campaigns.
  • Provide direction and support to Law Department staff assisting on employment, labor, ethics, or privacy projects.
  • Advises on regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Manages various projects and deadlines.
  • Performs pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
  • Identifies and implements policy and process improvements.
  • Conducts investigations.
  • Effectively communicates legal risks with executive staff.

What You Need:
  • 5+ years of legal experience with expertise in litigation (particularly employment and labor relations)
  • Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence.
  • PC literate with a command of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • License to practice law in Tennessee or ability to receive reciprocity.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to perform duties using project management principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Superior problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide clear and direct communications both verbally and in written form.
  • Self –motivated and able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Significant experience with third party logistics industry.
  • Experience in benefits, immigration, federal contract compliance, and/or workers' compensation.
  • Knowledge or experience in global employment laws or practices (particularly Canada, Mexico and/or Brazil)
