Position & QualificationsThe team seeks an Associate with 0-3 years of experience with an interest in focusing on trust & estate litigation while also working on estate planning matters. This role will assist with the following, under the supervision of a more senior attorney:
- Draft pleadings for probate administration including estate inventories and correspondence
- Draft pleadings for contested matters arising in probate, trust and guardianship administration
- Draft outgoing interrogatories and requests for production, as well as responses for incoming discovery requests, as part of the discovery process in contested matters
- Research on various tax, estate planning, fiduciary duty and other issues
- Prepare complex accountings for probate, trust and guardianship administration
- Prepare estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, and ancillary documents
- Manage probate/trust administration calendar and deadlines
- Supervise paralegals in the preparation of annual reports and accountings for guardianships and court-supervised trusts
- Appear in court regarding supervised trusts, guardianships, and some contested matters
- Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, mediators and arbitrators
- Must be able to meet deadlines and possess excellent time management skills
- Must be able to handle a variety of matters simultaneously to meet client needs
- Must have an excellent attention to detail
- An unwavering client service ethic is a must for this position
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, references, and academic credentials
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- A Washington Bar license is required
