As the An Insurance Company Construction Defect Trial Attorney in Florida, you will provide legal representation, either personally or by retaining and supervising outside counsel that handles moderately complex litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility. You will personally handle or manage litigation of a most complex nature involving either the corporation and its insured within established corporate guidelines, applicable standards of good faith. You will report to the Senior Manager, Legal.

Primary Accountabilities:
  • You will handle litigation involving either the corporation and its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.
  • You will analyze file as litigation progresses, evaluate cases and seek settlements as necessary.
  • You will conduct discovery (e.g. written interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and depositions).
  • You will conduct motion practice.
  • You will draft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation.
  • You will advocate client position in all forums and circumstances, both formal and informal.
  • You will stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzes how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of the various policy provisions.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses.
  • Demonstrated litigation experience.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.
  • Admission to the Florida State Bar or eligibility for admission to the bar and obtaining admission within a year of hiring.
  • Juris Doctor
  • 5 or more years of experience in construction defect litigation property litigation experience beneficial

In this home-based role, you will spend much of your time working from home. On occasion you will be asked to travel throughout the state for in person engagement activities and legal proceedings.
