Description:
Merchant & Gould is proud to participate in the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP) 1L Clerkship and the 2026 Summer Associate Program. For decades, our Summer Associate Program has served as the primary pathway for new associates to join the firm. The program welcomes first-year law students from all backgrounds and is designed to provide a challenging, educational, and rewarding experience for exceptional students nationwide. Summer Associates are entrusted with substantive projects and work closely with supervising attorneys. These assignments mirror the work given to new associates, offering meaningful exposure to real-world legal practice.
At Merchant & Gould, we believe it is essential for Summer Associates to gain insight into both the prosecution and litigation aspects of intellectual property law. Accordingly, participants are encouraged to explore both areas throughout the summer. Formal evaluations are conducted at mid-summer and at the program's conclusion. All Summer Associates are considered for full-time associate positions following the program.
Positions are available in our Minneapolis office.
Our In-House Training Program, held weekly, is designed to expose Summer Associates to a broad range of practice areas. In addition, participants are invited to attend monthly practice group meetings and attorney training seminars to deepen their understanding of the firm's work and culture.
Merchant & Gould also hosts a variety of social events throughout the summer, ranging from formal gatherings to casual outings, providing opportunities to build lasting professional relationships and friendships.
