This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants to do more than simply work behind the scenes. You will have the opportunity to work on sophisticated tax and estate planning matters, develop meaningful client relationships, and build a strong foundation for a long-term practice in tax, estate planning, trusts and estate administration.
We recognize that the strongest candidate may not have practiced exclusively in Tax / Trusts & Estates. If you are a talented attorney with strong research and writing skills, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in developing expertise in this area, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do:
You will work closely with experienced attorneys and have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in matters involving:
- Federal and state tax matters
- Estate planning and wealth-transfer planning
- Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents
- Estate and trust administration
- Federal estate and gift tax matters
- Tax planning and analysis
- Estates and Trusts litigation
- Business succession and related planning
- Research and analysis of complex legal and tax issues
- Preparation, review, and revision of legal documents
- Direct communication with clients and other professional advisors, including accountants and financial professionals
- As you develop, you will be given increasing responsibility and the opportunity to take ownership of matters and build your knowledge and client relationships.
What We're Looking For:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- 5 years of legal experience
- Admission to the West Virginia Bar, or eligibility for admission
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to providing excellent client service
- A genuine interest in developing a practice in Tax / Trusts & Estates
- Prior Tax / Trusts & Estates experience is not required. We are interested in attorneys with strong fundamental legal skills and the ability and desire to learn. Experience in estate planning, trusts and estates, tax, accounting, corporate law, real estate, or another related practice area is welcome, but we will consider candidates from a variety of legal backgrounds.
