An Am Law 100 law firm, seeks a highly qualified Associate to join their Tax department in their Chicago or New York offices. Associates with 2-3 years experience are preferred, but we will consider a well-qualified fourth year associate.Candidates can expect to work on a variety of transactional tax matters. Experience with Real Estate investments, structuring considerations of large real estate and real estate investment trusts, drafting tax memoranda on REIT taxation, and experience representing investment banks active in the REIT industry and other real estate-related companies is a plus.
Candidates should be from a nationally recognized law firm or accounting firm. Experience related not only to real estate transactions but also mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, inbound and outbound investments, and financial instruments and derivatives is a must.
All candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have excellent analytical, writing and interpersonal skills. In particular, candidates should have a desire to learn and interact collaboratively with other departments. Candidates are required to be bar licensed in the state/district in which they are applying or immediately eligible for admission on waiver.
