  • Provide comprehensive legal representation to a diverse range of clients, including individuals, high-net-worth families, corporations, and partnerships, throughout all stages of tax controversies.
  • Advocate for clients before the IRS at the administrative level, including audits, appeals, and collections. Experience as well before state and local taxing authorities is ideal.
  • First chairing federal and state tax litigation and appeals.
  • Draft and file all requisite legal documents, such as briefs, motions, and petitions.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current developments in federal and state tax law, including legislative changes and IRS rulings.
  • Foster strong collaborations with partners, associates, and other professionals within the firm to ensure the successful resolution of client matters.
  • Potential for mentorship of junior associates and contribution to the continued growth of the Tax practice group.

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Barred in the state of the attorney's primary office location.
  • Minimum of 6 years (associate candidate) and 8 years (partner candidate) years of demonstrably successful experience in tax controversy matters.
  • Deep understanding of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and administrative procedures.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, fostering strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Prior experience in tax litigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Some criminal tax experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Some transactional tax experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • CPA or LLM in Tax, or prior work experience in the IRS, is a significant advantage.
