We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Attorney to join our dynamic and collaborative team in Davis, California. This role is ideal for a legal professional with a passion for navigating complex tax matters and delivering exceptional client service. The successful candidate will advise individuals, businesses, and trusts on a wide range of tax issues, playing a critical role in planning, transactions, compliance, and dispute resolution.

Responsibilities:
Tax Planning & Advisory
  • Design and implement innovative tax strategies for businesses, individuals, and fiduciaries.
  • Advise on structuring for long-term tax efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Transactional Support

  • Guide clients through tax aspects of corporate formations, reorganizations, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Analyze and structure deals to minimize tax exposure and enhance transactional value.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact on tax matters.
  • Provide tailored guidance and cultivate long-term client relationships.

Dispute Resolution & Representation

  • Represent clients before federal, state, and local tax authorities in audits, appeals, and other proceedings.
  • Develop effective strategies to protect client interests and minimize litigation risk.

Research & Legal Analysis

  • Monitor changes in tax law and prepare internal memoranda, legal briefs, and client advisories.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and proactive legal insights.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Partner with attorneys in corporate, estate planning, and litigation to provide holistic legal solutions.
  • Contribute to a cohesive team environment that prioritizes client success.

Practice Development

  • Participate in business development initiatives, including networking, speaking engagements, and writing thought leadership content.
  • Foster referral relationships and support the firm's growth and visibility.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school (required)
  • Active member in good standing of the California State Bar
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sophisticated tax practice, with exposure to both planning and controversy matters
  • Deep knowledge of federal, California, and local tax law
  • Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong team orientation and willingness to collaborate across disciplines
  • LL.M. in Taxation and/or CPA credential is a plus
