Wilson Tax Law Group is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our growing tax law practice in Orange County, California. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in developing their skills in a sophisticated practice while working alongside experienced tax professionals on a broad range of federal and California tax matters.Responsibilities:
The Associate Attorney will work closely with the firm's attorneys and clients on matters involving federal and state tax controversies, including IRS, FTB, CDTFA, and U.S. Tax Court matters.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda regarding federal and California tax issues
- Drafting correspondence, protests, petitions, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Communicating with clients, taxing authorities, opposing counsel, and other professionals
- Assisting with audits, administrative appeals, collection matters, and tax litigation
- Reviewing and analyzing financial records, tax returns, transcripts, and other case documents
- Participating in client meetings, conferences with taxing authorities, and court proceedings
- Managing assigned matters and meeting applicable deadlines and billable-hour expectations
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a professional environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team
- Prior tax law, litigation, accounting, or financial experience is preferred but not required
