About the Role:
The Svp, Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment Serves as A Key Member of The In-House Legal Team, Providing Expert Counsel on A Broad Range of Labor and Employment Matters. This Role Is Responsible for Advising Leaders, Managers, and Business Teams on Complex, Multi-Jurisdictional Labor and Employment Issues, Including Litigation, Government Investigations, and Union and Collective Bargaining Matters. the Attorney Partners Closely with People (hr) and Operational Leaders to Deliver Practical, Business-Oriented Solutions that Align with Organizational Goals and Regulatory Requirements.

This Position Operates Under the Direction and In Collaboration with The Chief Legal Officer (clo) and In Coordination with The Chief People Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. the Clo Is Expected to Appropriately Delegate Responsibilities and Tasks to The Svp, Labor & Employment Counsel Including the Following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide Practical and Strategic Legal Counsel on Labor and Employment Law-Related Issues Including Compliance with Federal, State, and Local Employment Laws, Labor Classification, Accommodations, and Disability and Leave Related Matters
  • Oversee Employee Relations to Include Developing Talent, Standardization of Workflows, and Standardization of Tracking Mechanisms
  • Advise on Sensitive Employment Matters Such as Discipline and Terminations, Investigation of Internal Complaints, Leaves and Accommodation Requests, to Proactively Minimize Litigation and Reputational Risk
  • Partner with Other Control Groups, Including Investigatory Functions, on Multidisciplinary Matters and Develop Best Practices with Frequent Collaboration with Other Infrastructure Functions, Such as People Support, Compliance, and Internal Audit
  • Advise on Union-Related Matters, Including Collective Bargaining, Grievance Handling, and Strategy for Labor Relations
  • Oversee Employment Litigation in Federal and State Courts, Arbitration Tribunals and Administrative Agencies Including Assigning and Managing Outside Counsel, Management Budgets and Reserves, Recommending Strategy for Defense, Overseeing Litigation Hold Process and Documentation Collection, Participating in Mediations, and Recommending Disposition Strategy
  • Evaluate, Investigate, and Respond to Attorney Demand Letters
  • Draft and Advise on Employment Policies and Practices
  • Manage and Respond to Government Investigations, Audits, and Enforcement Actions in Collaboration with People Support and Compliance
  • Monitor and Interpret Developments in Federal, State, and Local Labor and Employment Laws, Particularly in Jurisdictions Where the Company Operates

Education and Experience:
  • J.D. Degree from An Aba-Accredited Law School
  • Admission in Good Standing to A Us State Bar
  • Minimum Experience: 8+ Years of In-House Legal Experience at A Healthcare or Hospital System or Related Law Firm Experience Consisting of Progressive Experience as Labor and Employment Attorney.
  • Preferred: 10+ Years of In-House Legal Experience at A Healthcare or Hospital System or Related Law Firm Experience with Experience Overseeing Employee Relations Teams. Union and Collective Bargaining Experience Is Highly Preferred.
  • Preferred: Shrm-Cp or Shrm-Scp Certification

Salary Range:
$250,000 - $230,000 Annually. Exact Pay Will Be Determined Based on Candidate Experience, Geographical Location, and Size/complexity of The Program Being Supported.
