Summary:As the Director for Bank Advisory, you will serve as operational executive and key advisor to OCC management on significant banking, legal, and supervisory issues pertaining to Bank Advisory matters.

Duties:
As the Director for Bank Advisory, you will:
- Direct operations of the unit including the development of key communications to internal and external stakeholders subject to the direction of the Deputy Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel.
- Provide guidance and legal assistance to OCC management with respect to unusual and complex issues having national significance and develop sound legal precedents in order to support OCC policy objectives.
- Prepare authoritative legal opinions on highly complex policy matters dealing with national banking law and other applicable statutes.
- Represent the OCC with industry, and Congressional and executive branch committees within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Maintain current knowledge of pertinent legal issues facing the OCC and the banking industry and coordinate with professional staff of other federal banking agencies and the administration regarding national banking matters.
- Evaluate performance in accordance with OCC guidelines; make personnel action decisions regarding promotions, adverse actions, etc.; and provide training and development opportunities.

This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.

- Successfully complete a background investigation that includes criminal history, financial history (including a credit check) and other information.
Qualifications:
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of the announcement:
- You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-VII band level or GS-15 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
- Experience managing others on advising on the laws and regulations relating to the supervision or audits of OCC regulated institutions in safety and soundness matters, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, policy development, rulemaking, or legislative matters; And
- Advising agency heads or other management officials on high-risk trends and systemic legal vulnerabilities. And
- Experience in successfully leading teams in providing guidance, mentorship, and instruction to less experienced attorneys.
Must be an active member of the bar of a State, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
Current OCC employees must have a performance rating of at least Level 3 overall and for all critical performance elements to be eligible for promotion.
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Education:
You must have graduated with a J.D. or an LL.M. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

- This position is excluded from the bargaining unit.
- Salary range includes 25.72% geographical pay.
- Total pay cannot exceed applicable pay cap, which is $319,800 for 2026
