Summary:The primary purpose of this position is to report to HQ AFMC/JA. Responsible for acquisition legal advice to all acquisition activities located at Wright-Patterson AFB, including Program Executive Officer (PEO) programs.
Duties:
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time.
- Represents the AFMC Law Office with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
- Chief legal counsel for designated acquisition programs.
- Examines legal issues raised by requests for formal opinions.
- Maintains current knowledge of changing statutory and regulatory guidance relating to acquisition and sustainment, as well as general developments in technology that may improve the effective delivery of legal services.
- Incumbent is responsible for the timely completion of administrative duties as assigned by AFMCLO leadership.

- PCS expenses if authorized will be paid IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations. This is a Centrally Managed position under the Legal Career Field

- Incumbent must be currently licensed as an attorney and counselor-at-law in a state or territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico
- Certificate of good standing must be provided and dated w/in 4 months of the date of the application. On-line screen shot is permitted so long as date obtained is shown and dated w/in 4 months of the date of application
- Employee must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory or commonwealth
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station using military/commercial aircraft or other modes of transportation
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
- Position designated special-sensitive requires a TOP SECRET security clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information, other intelligence-related Special Sensitive info, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs
- (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Employee must be able to obtain

- Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement
Qualifications:
General Requirements:
- You MUST have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD). You must provide a copy of your Law School Transcripts.
- In addition, at the time of application, you must provide proof, dated within four months of application of "active" status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. On-line information is allowed as long as the date obtain is shown and reflects that it is dated within four months of the application and it shows that you are in "active" status. A copy of the Bar Card is not acceptable proof of good standing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of federal acquisition law (including but not limited to Systems Acquisition; Research & Development; and Facilities contracting matters and the Fiscal, Taxation, Environmental, Anti-Trust, and Patents, Copyright, and Technical Data Rights aspects thereof).
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrated skill in researching legal issues raised by requests for formal opinions, the analysis of complex factual situations in light of the results of such legal research and general legal principles, and the preparation of written legal opinions based upon such research and analysis.
- Proven skill using negotiation techniques to protect the Government's position in major acquisition actions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to lead, guide, and advise subordinates to enable them to perform effectively and to handle greater responsibility in the future.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education:
Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and be currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth. The attorney must maintain such bar membership in at least one jurisdiction during the entire course of employment with the Air Force.
