Job Description:
The selected will supervise Senior EEO Specialists and EEO Specialists and will be responsible for overseeing the processing and adjudication of complaints of discrimination or retaliation/reprisal as well as other matters pertaining to Equal Employment Opportunity Law. This includes determinations on acceptances of complaints or recommendations of dismissal to the U.S. Department of Justice, the investigation of complaints, and the settlement of complaints. The selected will supervise the processing of 
complaints filed by inmates, visitors, and others having contact with the BOP's programs, under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

The selected will interpret all EEO federal laws, regulations, and policies, and will be expected to provide expert legal advice and guidance on EEO policies and administer and ensure compliance with EEO laws and regulations. The selected will assist the EEO Officer in the development, analysis, and implementation of a system-wide series of programs and policies to include the ADR Program and will provide training to Bureau staff nationwide on the EEO and ADR programs. The selected will work closely with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other Federal agencies to include OPM on recent developments and interpretations of law and regulations affecting the EEO complaint process.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least four (4) years of post-J.D. (or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience.

Preferred qualifications: Prior experience in external auditing matters is preferred, but not required.

Additionally, this is a non-law enforcement position. Attorneys who do not have 20 years of primary/secondary law enforcement officer (LEO) service may lose their LEO retirement benefit.

Salary:
The appropriate salary range, including locality pay adjustment is GS-15.
