The Deputy Associate General Counsel of the Legislative and Correctional Issues Branch (LCI) assists the Associate General Counsel in the management of the Branch. Based on the needs of the Branch, the Deputy Associate General Counsel of LCI Branch could, for example, be responsible for supervising other LCI Branch attorneys and staff, managing the Branch's workflow, and standing in for the Associate General Counsel upon request. The incumbent also would likely develop the incumbent's own areas of subject-matter expertise and perform other functions as needed, including, but not limited to, providing direct support to Assistant U.S. Attorney's and DOJ attorneys and handling a caseload. The incumbent works with and advises senior leaders, supervisors, and staff concerning legal aspects of, and the interpretation, applicability, and compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations, and constitutional provisions relating to the confinement of inmates. The incumbent will work closely with other divisions within BOP, Department of Justice officials, United States Attorneys Office staff and officials within the Executive Branch on statutory matters that affect the BOP and to resolve correctional issues.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least four (4) years of post - J.D. experience.

Preferred qualifications: Prior experience in legislative & correctional issues is preferred, but not required.

Salary:
The possible salary range is: GS-15 ($169,279-$197,200).
