Description:
The Supervising Attorney provides direct immigration legal services and supervision to staff attorneys, and interns. They also supervise the HSPRS case managers and other support staff.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides immigration legal services consultations.
- Prepares and files applications on behalf of clients for immigration benefits, including family petitions, refugee/asylee relative petitions, applications for asylum, adjustment of status, consular processing, naturalization, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and VAWA relief.
- Prepares and represents clients before USCIS, immigration court, and in immigration-related matters in Family Court.
- Provides community outreach, including legal clinics, presentations, and workshops at community groups.
- Supervises staff attorneys and legal fellows.
- Mentors law student interns and volunteers.
- Provides administrative oversight for case managers in Home Study/Post-Release Services (HSPRS); prepares for HSPRS audits; prepares HSPRS reports.
- Provides administrative oversight for Safe Release Services fingerprinting program (SRS).
- Participates in recruitment for SRS, HSPRS, and legal staffing.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education/Licensure:
- JD from accredited law school.
- Bar admission to New York State required.
Experience:
Experience in the field of immigration legal services is required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal, writing, analytical, and organizational skills,
- Ability to meet deadlines; ability to relate well to diverse groups of individuals and families; work well in team and partnership environment, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Other Requirements:
- Foreign language skill, especially Spanish, is a plus.
