Armstrong Teasdale is now accepting applications for 2Ls interested in IP Litigation to join our 2027 Summer Associate Program. This immersive 8-9-week program offers first-year law students the opportunity to gain real-world legal experience while being mentored by experienced patent attorneys in a collaborative environment.

Job Overview:
Our Summer Associate Program is designed to provide hands-on experience in IP litigation while helping you expand your skills and explore different areas of IP law. You will be treated as a professional and entrusted with meaningful work, contributing to complex legal matters alongside IP attorneys who are passionate about mentoring and guiding you. While you will primarily focus on IP litigation matters, you will have the ability to learn about different practice areas. In addition to valuable legal experience, you'll participate in special seminars on topics like soft skills, the business of law firms, and legal industry trends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with IP attorneys on challenging, high-impact legal matters
  • Engage in research, drafting memos, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Participate in client meetings, hearings, and case strategy sessions
  • Explore specific areas of legal interest with ample guidance and support
  • Attend firm events, seminars, and networking opportunities to build professional connections
  • Participate in planned social activities to foster relationships with fellow summer associates and attorneys

Qualifications:
  • First-year law student enrolled at an American Bar Association-accredited law school
  • Undergraduate degree in a STEM field such as Biology, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or closely related discipline
  • Strong academic performance in both undergraduate and law school coursework
  • Genuine interest in pursuing an IP litigation career at Armstrong Teasdale
  • Demonstrated personal and professional achievements
  • Passion, curiosity, and approachability, with a willingness to learn and be coached
