Summary:
An Advocacy Group Headquartered in Washington, DC is looking for a currently enrolled first-year or second-year law school student (rising 2L or 3L) to join its Legal Center as a Summer Law Clerk. The Legal Center works to rein in regulatory overreach, protect hard-fought legislative gains and ensure a level playing field for manufacturers by engaging in party litigation, providing amicus support in key cases and promoting awareness of the legal issues that impact the vitality of the manufacturing sector. Responsibilities:
  • Support the NAM Legal Center's amicus program by drafting summaries of amicus filings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the Legal Center's weekly newsletter which is sent to over 4,000 manufacturing counsel by summarizing litigation and legislative and executive branch developments.
  • Assist with the tracking and organization of court filings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school program.
  • Outstanding academic record in relevant course work.
  • Two references, preferably from an academic advisor or faculty member of school attending.
  • Excellent writing, editing, critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Some experience in a business environment.
