Great opportunity for responsibility and growth at this very busy small firm practicing criminal law.A Criminal Law Firm is a boutique law firm specializing in criminal defense of allegations including federal crimes, white collar offenses, sexual assault, child sex crimes, child abuse, shaken baby/abusive head trauma, and medical child abuse.
We are looking for a talented and energetic LAW STUDENT to add to our growing practice as a Law Clerk. Primary duties will focus on reviewing discovery, issue identification, and legal research and writing. The ideal candidate will be a 2L Law Student. You should be driven, contribute to the team, a self-starter, and possess excellent research and writing skills. Opportunity WILL be offered to the right candidate to transition to an Associate Position upon graduation and passing the Michigan Bar.
Qualifications: • 2L at accredited law school. • Experience conducting legal research using Westlaw, Lexis and available legal resources. • Superior legal research and writing skills for motions, briefs and sentencing memos. . • Ability to present statements of fact, laws and arguments clearly and logically in writing • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to legal problems and matters. • Skill in managing one's own time, as well as the ability to meet deadlines. • Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to request clarification when needed.
