Job Description:The program will last 10 weeks and begin on Monday, May 19, 2025. Assignments are primarily research and writing, but interns are responsible for assisting attorneys with all aspects of case preparation, including researching legal issues, drafting pleadings, interviewing witnesses, and providing trial support. In-court opportunities available for rising 3Ls who obtain a third-year practice certificate. Past 3L criminal interns and externs have handled numerous in-court matters including sentencing hearings and direct examination of witnesses at jury trials.
The office is located in the City Center One in Oyster Point area of Newport News, at 11815 Fountain Way, Suite 200, Newport News, Virginia 23606. Living accommodations and parking will not be provided, but garage parking is available at no cost. Applicants should contact their law schools about receiving class credit or a public interest stipend.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens actively enrolled in an accredited law school throughout the 2026 summer (rising second and third-year students). Offers are contingent on the selected applicants successfully completing a background review.
Salary:
This is an uncompensated law student internship for summer 2026.
