Description:
Under supervision of licensed attorneys in office, conduct legal research and writing and appear in court.Position is open until filled.
Essential Duties:
- Conduct writing assignments including general research, omnibus briefs, appellate briefs, municipal law, commitments, and legal support of other Renville County entities.
- Appear in court hearings such as arraignments, omnibus hearings, contested evidentiary hearings, court trials, jury trials, juvenile delinquency, truancy, child protection, child support, forfeiture, and commitment proceedings.
- Assist in complaint drafting and charging decisions.
- Responsible for the prosecution of petty misdemeanor and misdemeanor traffic offenses, which includes negotiating settlements and conducting trials.

Education and/or Experience:
Must be currently enrolled and/or attending law school from an accredited law school. Coursework in legal writing, criminal law and/or procedures is desired, but not required.
