Description:
Ruvalcaba Hernández Law Firm, PLLC seeks an in-person Staff Attorney with a strong interest and background in immigration law. This position is ideal for:- Intermediate-level attorneys with 1–2 years of immigration law experience, OR
- Entry-level attorneys with substantial knowledge of immigration law gained through internships, clinics, or paralegal work.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct consultations (in-person and telephonic) focusing on family-based petitions, consular processing, naturalization, and humanitarian visas (VAWA/T/U).
- Prepare applications, motions, and supporting documentation.
- Represent clients before USCIS and consular offices.
- Appear before EOIR on basic matters such as bond hearings and master calendar hearings (individual hearings may be assigned as experience grows).
- Travel out of the city and occasionally out of state to attend USCIS interviews and EOIR hearings (travel expenses reimbursed by the firm).
- Answer legal questions for clients and paralegal staff promptly and openly, ensuring paralegals have the guidance they need to perform their duties effectively.
- Communicate effectively with clients to ensure understanding of case status, next steps, and expectations.
- De-escalate tense situations and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and client preparation.
- Review FOIA results and summarize findings for senior attorney review.
- Work closely with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely case progression.
- Participate in ongoing training and stay informed about immigration law updates.
Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school (Texas preferred but not required)
- Active bar license in good standing (recent admittees welcome)
- Spanish language proficiency
- Strong interest in immigration law and social justice
- Excellent research, writing, and client communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred: 1–2 years of immigration law experience; or immigration clinic or internship experience; or familiarity with immigration forms and procedures
- Comfort with case management software and willingness to learn new tools

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
