About Mil Mujeres Legal Services
Mil Mujeres Legal Services is a multistate nonprofit organization dedicated to providing immigration legal services to low-income survivors of violent crimes and their families. Our primary focus is assisting survivors of gender-based violence, ensuring they receive legal representation and support to navigate the immigration system effectively.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct legal representation in humanitarian immigration cases, including U visa, VAWA, and asylum applications.
  • Conduct legal screenings and assess eligibility for immigration relief.
  • Prepare and file applications and supporting documentation before USCIS and immigration courts.
  • Represent clients in immigration court proceedings (affirmative and defensive), under supervision if needed.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date case files using case management software.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure effective case resolution.
  • Stay current on immigration laws, regulations, and policies, particularly those related to humanitarian relief.

Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
  • Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 1 year of experience in immigration law, with exposure to U visa, VAWA.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in asylum cases, including court representation (affirmative and defensive asylum).
  • Membership in good standing in the bar of any state.
