Essential Duties:
Serve as in-house legal counsel for Young Life advising on a variety of legal matters
- Assist in providing full scope of legal representation to Young Life with a primary focus on legal support for Young Life in the United States, as directed by leadership.
- Prepare, review, and manage contracts – such as service contracts, leases, and construction contracts.
- Dispute resolution and litigation management.
- Provide legal advice on employment matters, including compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, internal investigations, and legal support to HR and supervisors.
- Assist with global data protection, privacy, and security compliance.
- Prepare and review corporate documents.
- Work with Young Life staff across the U.S. and around the world to assist in legal matters.
- Work with and manage outside legal counsel to achieve necessary services within budget constraints.
- Work with multi-functional teams (Missions Services, Camping, Field, etc.).
Working Conditions:
- General office working environment at the Young Life Service Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
- Occasional travel will be required.
- Daily computer usage.
- Some stress may be involved in meeting various deadlines.
- Compliance with all organizational safety policies; small amounts of lifting, generally not more than 20 pounds.
Education and Credentials:
- Juris Doctor degree
- License to practice law in the United States, with the ability to achieve Colorado licensing within six months.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 2-5 years of previous experience as a licensed attorney.
- Prior experience in transactional law (corporate, contracts, etc.), litigation, and employment law preferred.
- Previous ministry experience as employee or volunteer preferred.

- Experience with contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
- Legal research skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent grammar, editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with work-related information.
Job Specific Working Conditions:
The anticipated salary can range from $66,130-$82,770 depending on education, experience, and location.
