Job Summary:
The CEB is filling a new Staff Attorney Supervisor! The Cannabis Expungement Board (CEB) is a new state board established to review felony cannabis-related convictions to determine their eligibility for expungement or resentencing. This position will be a member of the Cannabis Expungement Board (CEB) leadership team and play a key role creating and executing the legal and procedural framework of the Board. This position each is responsible for providing direct oversight of a staff attorney and 3 Paralegal Supervisors. This position will oversee the Paralegal Supervisor's direct reports and coordinate with the rest of the legal team of Managing attorneys and their direct reports, that are performing complex legal research and analysis to advance the goals of the agency. The position will also provide legal expertise to the agency and Board on expungement and litigation strategy, specifically in criminal law. The incumbent will apply their expertise and analysis when making recommendations for expungement, consistent with applicable laws and in consideration of the impact of potential Board actions.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
- Juris Doctor and licensed to practice law in Minnesota
- Three (3) years of experience as practicing attorney in criminal law or prosecution
- Demonstrated leadership experience. Leadership experience can include experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead, or completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g. ELI or SLI), or comparable leadership program
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
- Experience in and working knowledge of criminal justice and expungement law
- Experience as a criminal prosecutor and/or defender
- Experience in the public sector managing or leading agency strategic initiatives, operations, budgets, personnel.
- Experience planning, organizing, coordination, implementing, and reporting on program objectives
- Experience in interpreting government rules, regulations, and laws, including the MN Government Data Practices Act
- Experience implementing or monitoring compliance with data practices/data privacy requirements
- Experience with the legislative process
- Demonstrated ability to partner with public and private organizations, special interest groups, elected and appointed officials
- Team building skills, including superior communication, written and public speaking skills
- Well established negotiation skills and an aptitude for building consensus through cooperation and coalition-building
