About the role:
The Staff Attorney plays a key role in assisting the legal team to ensure election and tax law compliance across the national Indivisible organizations, which include Indivisible Civics (a 501(c)(3) public charity), Indivisible Project (a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization), and Indivisible Action (a federally registered hybrid PAC). Reporting to the Senior Counsel, the Staff Attorney will help provide guidance to programmatic teams.

This is a full-time, short-term assignment anticipated to end on or before November 30, 2026. The salary for this position is $91,150 annually, and the role is expected to require 40 hours of work per week.

What You'll Do:
  • Working with the Senior Counsel, provide cross-program support and legal guidance for innovative programmatic priorities involving campaign finance, lobbying, and election activity. - 30%
  • Under the supervision of the Senior Counsel, review, draft, and provide guidance on contracts, leases, grant agreements, and other legal documentation. - 15%
  • Working with the Senior Counsel, help develop and update effective compliance education and program-specific training tools for Indivisible employees relating to election and tax law compliance and internal policies and procedures. - 15%
  • Support the Senior Compliance Manager in developing and managing data systems, compliance procedures, and internal processes/practices relating to campaign finance reporting and entity time tracking. - 15%
  • Conduct independent and complex legal research and write memoranda. Issue spot, investigate, and evaluate legal implications of compliance issues. - 10%
  • Help monitor changing areas of tax and election law as they relate to Indivisible entities and legal compliance. - 5%
  • Other duties as assigned. - 10%

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with a strong academic background.
  • Membership in good standing of any state bar association.
  • 1-3 years' legal experience, preferably with some experience in tax-exempt governance, lobbying, and election law activity.

  • Experience with Google Office suite of products.
