Kutak Rock LLP's Denver office is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to join our real estate working group. This attorney will be fully dedicated to supporting 2-3 institutional firm clients and will focus primarily on drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial office leases.
This is a non-partner track position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage lease lifecycle from LOI to execution
- Draft and negotiate commercial office leases
- Review draft leases prepared by other members of the transaction team
- Update playbooks, templates, and clause libraries aligned to client protocols
- Monitor compliance with client requirements; escalate deviations and risk items
- Perform targeted legal research on leasing and real estate issues
- Coordinate with Kutak's transaction team, client's in-house legal team, brokers, and business stakeholders in connection with lease matters
- Train and guide transaction team on client-specific processes and standards
Qualifications: Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial leases (office and medical office)
- Strong writing, issue-spotting, and contract negotiation skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Desire to further develop superior drafting and negotiating skills involving commercial office and medical office building leases
- Ability to manage a high volume of lease transactions from initial draft through execution, coordinating directly with client in house counsel, asset managers, and counterparties
- Ability to maintain organized workflows and track high-volume matters, ensuring timely turnaround and consistent client service
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate, both orally and in writing, with clients and supervising attorneys
- Ability to manage multiple matters and tasks simultaneously and to complete tasks efficiently, effectively, and in timely manner
- Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with partners, associates, and support staff
- Ability to work effectively with large working groups as part of a transaction team
Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school
- Qualified candidates must be licensed, or have pending licensure, to practice law in the State of Colorado. Licenses must be in good standing
- At least 3 years of related experience required
- Experience representing institutional landlords and/or tenants preferred (not required)
Position Information:
Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $170,000-$200,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience
Work Arrangement: Hybrid 3:2
