Position Summary:
Our Walnut Creek office is seeking a Staff Attorney to join our Data Broker Team and assist with large-scale projects. This role offers immediate, hands-on litigation experience in a growing and dynamic practice area. The Staff Attorney will support the team across all phases of litigation — from intake to settlement — with a focus on efficiency, organization, and high-volume case management.
Staff Attorneys at Bursor & Fisher work closely with partners, associates, and senior team members. While this role will not involve drafting full legal briefs, it will provide substantial exposure to federal and state filings.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and manage short-form complaints and litigation filings.
- Assist with client intake, discovery, and settlement preparation across a large case volume.
- Oversee case management, scheduling and calendaring for a significant number of matters.
- Review and respond to written discovery requests.
- Coordinate and analyze large-scale document productions.
- Support attorneys in federal filings, hearings, mediations, and conferences.
- Communicate professionally with co-counsel, opposing counsel, and clients.
- Review and analyze document productions.
- Ensure organization and accuracy in managing multiple active mass tort matters.
- Work collaboratively with the team, with mentorship provided by the team.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the California Bar in good standing.
- Substantial litigation experience required.
- Experience with California state court filings and federal court filings preferred.
- Exceptional writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high-volume caseloads.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.
- Experience in drafting complaints, calendar management, discovery, or federal filings is preferred.
