We are one of the fastest growing consumer-packaged goods (CPG) producers and ZYN is the number one selling nicotine pouch in the US.

In order to continually promote and create innovative products that support our vision we are currently seeking a Staff Attorney in Richmond, VA.

The Staff Attorney will help manage the day-to-day legal tasks for the company and learn all facets of the company's operations. Areas to include, but not limited to, contracts, trademarks, consumer relations, regulatory requirements, internal litigation support, risk management, state/local government affairs and legislative tracking. This individual will be effective in exercising seasoned judgment and providing guidance to business and functional leaders across the organization.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Become familiar with federal, state and local laws regulating our business, including tobacco specific regulations, intellectual property and fair competition acts.
  • Be familiar with company business strategies to ensure legal decisions are in line with business objectives.
  • Assist in day to day legal responsibilities including contract review/drafting, marketing review, management of trademark function, management of regulatory training including FDA and marketing code of conduct requirements.
  • State and local legislative tracking and assistance with state and local government affairs.
  • Be in a position to advise sales, marketing and manufacturing groups regarding applicable legal requirements.

Requirements:
Education:
Juris Doctorate from accredited law school

Experience:
3-5 years of experience with at least 2 years at a large law firm or similar in-house corporate experience. Admitted to Virginia Bar or a reciprocal state or ability to transfer into the Virginia bar. Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Skills:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of specialty areas including, but not limited to, regulatory compliance, state and local government affairs, contracts, trademarks and intellectual property, risk management.
  • Proven ability to review, draft, revise and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
