Job Posting Housing Stability Projectstaff Attorney
Rhode Island Legal Services, Inc., a Statewide Program with Its Principal Office in Providence, Seeks One Staff Attorney to Work in Its Housing Stability Project (hsp) in Providence, a Project of The Rils Housing Law Center Dedicated to Eviction Defense, Preventing Homelessness, and Assisting Those Facing Housing Insecurity.

Responsibilities: Representation of Eligible Individuals and Families Who Are Being Evicted or At Imminent Risk of Eviction or Homelessness; Frequent Court Appearances; Participate in Educational Forums Related to Housing Law; Collaborate with Community Agencies and Groups Addressing Issues of Homelessness; Develop Familiarity with Other Areas of Poverty Law that Are Relevant to Housing Law Practice, and Regularly Participate in The Tenant Help Desk Program, and Fulfill All Other Duties in The Union Contract.

Qualifications: Admission to Rhode Island Bar Preferred (but Admission Must at Least Be Pending). Must Be Comfortable Working with Clients Facing Extreme Stress and Must Be Capable of Handling a Large Case Load with Regular Required Appearances in Sixth or Third District Court (and Possibly Other Courts as Required) and Must Enjoy Working in A Team Environment.
