What You'll Do:
As a Staff Attorney, you'll provide direct legal representation to eligible clients in a variety of civil legal matters while serving as a trusted advocate for vulnerable Nebraskans.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating potential cases and determining appropriate representation.
- Conducting legal research and factual investigations.
- Drafting pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Negotiating settlements and representing clients in hearings, litigation, and appeals as appropriate.
- Counseling clients on their legal rights, options, and next steps.
- Collaborating with community partners and participating in outreach and legal education initiatives.
- Staying current on developments in areas of law affecting Legal Aid clients.

What We're Looking For:
Successful candidates will have:
- Strong legal research, writing, litigation, and communication skills.
- A commitment to serving low-income and underserved communities.
- The ability to manage cases independently while working collaboratively with colleagues.
- A passion for advancing access to justice.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Nebraska, or licensed in another state with a pending Nebraska admission or waiver application.
- Experience in legal aid, public interest law, poverty law, or community-based legal services is highly valued.
- Bilingual or multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
