Position Description:Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and Prepare for Hearings on Probate of Will, Heirship Determination, and Estate Administration Applications.
- Review and appoint Attorneys Ad Litem on Decedent Estates.
- Research and Brief Legal Questions arising from cases, Ancillary Motions before the court and prepare for hearings.
- Conference with Judge on all above.
- Stay abreast of Case Law and Legislative Updates and Changes to the Texas Estate Code to maintain proficiency in citing and applying legal authority.
- Keep Judge and Court Staff updated on Case Law and Legislative.
- Updates and Changes to the Texas Estate Code.
- Advance legal education through applicable Continuing Legal Education Courses.
- Assist Judge during Ancillary, Contested Matters and Trial.
- General Assistance at Judge's and Staff's request.
Requirements:
Education and Licensure:
- Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an American Bar Association accredited college of law.
- Licensed by the State Bar of Texas.
Preferences:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as an attorney in Probate area of law.
