Description:
Job Summary:Represents clients that are requesting a pardon or clemency from the Ohio governor and clients seeking expungement of prior convictions, or other reentry-related legal services. Works directly with community partners to identify and screen potential clients. In collaboration with the Director, work on the Ohio Governor's Expedited Pardon Project, including attending training sessions and accepting clients. Works with the Director in teaching at the clinic and supervising student work. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree and license to practice law in Ohio.
- One (1) year of legal experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in representing clients in state or federal pardon/clemency petitions, expungements, and/or reentry-related legal areas such as housing and employment.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Ability to partner with local partner institutions, i.e. public defender's offices and legal non-profits.
- Ability to organize conferences, trainings, or symposia in the area of criminal justice.
- Ability to supervise and teach law students in clinical or other course settings.
- Ability to exercise sound and creative judgment.
- Ability to conduct effective community outreach to identify potential clients.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication skills, the ability to make effective presentations, and have strong public speaking skills.
- Possess the ability to operate with a high level of energy performing multifaceted projects.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong customer service skills.
- Possess a high degree of confidentiality to available information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
