The law firm of Raffaele & Associates is dedicated to serving the legal needs of students, children, and their families. Our Attorneys, Education Consultants, Advocates and Staff provide skilled, thoughtful representation combining the experience and sophistication of a large firm with the personal attention and service of a small law practice. We are seeking an experienced Special Education Attorney to join us.
Responsibilities: Our work includes handling all aspects of special education cases in Pennsylvania, including written and oral advocacy to District-side counsel, representing families at Early Intervention, Section 504 Plan and IEP team meetings; filing and litigating due process complaints before the Office of Dispute Resolution, and filing and litigating civil complaints under the IDEA, Rehabilitation Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act in Pennsylvania's federal district courts. We also present community education programs to help education families of students with disabilities about their rights, entitlements, and responsibilities under the law.
Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree. Licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania Experience in the field of Special Education Knowledge of the IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Pennsylvania School Code.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Section 504 Plan and IEP development and meeting participation; Ability to travel to meetings and hearings within Philadelphia and the 5-county area (Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks, Berks, Chester); Excellent communication, case load management, and writing skills; Comfort working remotely; Flexibility with scheduling; Comfort with public speaking; Knowledge of schools and resources for special needs children in Pennsylvania; and Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
