The Department of Revenue is hiring for Temporary Law Clerks! Gain practical legal experience and serve the public!

These positions can start as soon as the interview/hiring process is complete or as soon as the candidate is able to start.

We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your academic schedule during the school year as well.

Under direct supervision, performs paraprofessional legal work researching and providing analysis on a variety of legal subjects for an agency; prepares a variety of legal documents and memorandums; performs related work as assigned.

Job Duties include:
  • Conducts research for agency attorneys; reviews, studies, searches, and annotates laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs and related legal authorities.
  • Analyze law sources to prepare drafts of briefs or arguments for review, approval, and use by attorney.
  • Assists with preparing legal files and/or documents and/or correspondence such as briefs, affidavits, motions, subpoenas, petitions, or memorandums for use by agency attorneys.
  • Proofreads letters, briefs, memoranda and other material prepared by agency attorneys.
  • May assist in drafting proposed rules, regulations and statutes.
  • May represents agency in administrative hearings under supervision of a licensed agency attorney pursuant to Certified Senior Law Student Rule.

Hourly Rate for Law Clerk I: $15.337

Hourly Rate for Law Clerk II: $17.723

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum Qualifications for a Law Clerk I: Current enrollment in, and completion of one year of law school (approved by the American Bar Association).

Minimum Qualifications for a Law Clerk II: Current enrollment at a law school (approved by the American Bar Association) with completion of legal studies sufficient to have attained senior standing and eligibility for Certification as a Certified Senior Law Student pursuant to Nebraska Revised Court Rules, Chapter 3, Article 7.
