What We Want
The Senior Student's Attorney provides legal guidance to all Texas A&M University students. A successful candidate will have experience with a variety of legal areas including contract review, landlord and tenant disputes, criminal law, consumer protection and family issues. This individual will not represent students in court but will assist students with preparing and filing documents and will educate on common legal issues facing students.

Salary: Starting at $95,000/yr (Commensurate to selected candidates experience)

Responsibilities:
- Provides legal services: Meet with students to provide legal services concerning landlord/tenant disputes, criminal law, consumer protection, automobile accidents, last will and testament preparations, contracts and business law, traffic tickets, insurance disputes and personal injury, divorces, real estate transactions and miscellaneous legal matters.
- Document preparation and filing: Assist students in preparing and filing legal documents such as expunctions, last will and testament, power of attorney, petitions, answers, motions, real estate documents, demand letters, contracts, partnership agreements, incorporations, releases, name changes, uncontested divorces, and affidavits. Serve as a notary for students, faculty and staff.
- Operations: Coordinate and supervise the administrative and program operations of student legal services. This includes oversight of day-to-day operations, long term strategic planning, program evaluation and assessment, and office budget.
- Presentations and Workshops: Design, implement, and evaluate presentations and workshops to students, faculty and staff in alignment with office mission. Maintain the office website for the benefit of students. Engage in individual developmental and/or educational conversations with students. Appropriately refer to university and community resources and services.
- Content Knowledge: Stay current on trends in the legal profession and new legislation, state laws, federal requirements, and national standards relating to providing legal services to students. Work with supervisor to create and maintain professional development plan, this may include utilizing campus trainings and/or attending professional conferences directly affiliated with job responsibilities.
- General: Assist in the total development of the Division of Student Affairs through participation on University, Division and Department committees and task forces. Advance the philosophy of multiculturalism and actively promote this in staffing, programming and student leadership. Evening and weekend work and/or travel may be required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience:
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Six years of related experience in law as a practicing attorney.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Member of the Texas Bar Association.
- Notary Public for the State of Texas or ability to become one within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with college students and/or student organizations.
- Four years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
