The Hartford currently has an in-house remote opportunity for a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate cases in the New York City area. This position is an ideal fit for an attorney with litigation experience in No-Fault claims, property damage claims and motor-vehicle accidents, with the opportunity to handle more complex matters, in a collegial and collaborative environment. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to independently handle cases.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently handle lawsuits involving No-Fault claims, property damage claims and motor-vehicle accidents, with the opportunity to handle more complex matters.
  • Prepare pleadings, written discovery and motions without supervision.
  • Conduct legal research and independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
  • Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues.
  • Provide effective and timely communications, legal advice and other services to claims customers and clients on legal and factual issues in a technology driven environment.
  • Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures.
  • Prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.

Qualifications:
Qualified Senior Staff Attorney candidates will possess the following qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of legal litigation experience.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and license to practice in New York State.
  • Knowledge of New York Supreme and Civil courts.
  • Member in good standing of New York State Bar.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Strong communication, computer and technological skills, and the ability to quickly leverage new software are required.
  • Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
